Fischer Services is looking for an experienced Boiler Service Technician who takes pride in solving complex problems and providing dependable service to customers throughout the greater Seattle area.
This is an opportunity for a skilled technician who understands boiler and hydronic heating systems, works safely and independently, and knows how to communicate clearly with customers. We are looking for someone who can accurately diagnose problems, complete quality repairs, and help customers make informed decisions about their heating systems.
What You’ll Do
Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain residential and light-commercial boiler systems
Work on gas-fired boilers, hydronic heating systems, pumps, controls, thermostats, zone valves, expansion tanks, and related equipment
Perform preventive maintenance, system inspections, combustion testing, and efficiency checks
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, fuel, venting, and control-related issues
Identify failed or deteriorating components and recommend appropriate repairs or replacement
Test system operation and confirm that completed work meets manufacturer specifications and applicable safety requirements
Explain findings, repair options, and completed work clearly and professionally to customers
Prepare accurate service documentation, repair recommendations, and job notes
Maintain an organized, safe, and professional company vehicle and work area
Participate in the on-call rotation as assigned
Follow all applicable safety procedures, mechanical codes, manufacturer requirements, and company standards
What We’re Looking For
At least three years of hands-on boiler, hydronic heating, HVAC, plumbing, or closely related service experience preferred
Strong working knowledge of boiler systems, pumps, controls, zone systems, venting, and combustion
Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and repair heating-system problems
Experience using combustion analyzers, electrical meters, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic equipment
Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
Professional communication and customer-service skills
Ability to prepare complete and accurate electronic service records
Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting equipment and materials, climbing ladders, working in confined areas, and working in varying temperatures
Ability to pass applicable pre-employment requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Washington electrical license applicable to the work being performed, including an EL06A HVAC/refrigeration specialty license when required
Washington plumbing certification applicable to the work being performed
Boiler manufacturer training or certifications
Experience with high-efficiency condensing boilers
Experience with both residential and light-commercial boiler systems
Knowledge of current Washington mechanical, fuel-gas, plumbing, and electrical requirements
